Coastway Radio is an independent, non-commercial community radio station.
We seek to stimulate, educate and entertain our audience, to reflect the diversity of older listeners and to broadcast programmes which are particularly designed to serve the needs of those in care settings and in hospitals.
We are unpaid volunteers who are determined to provide relevant programming by meeting with them and then offering appropriate content in an appealing, professional way.
The main responsibility of a Coastway radio volunteer is to provide entertainment for older people in their own homes, in hospitals and in care settings to consistently high standards.
Full membership of Coastway is open to anyone over the age of eighteen on payment of the annual subscription which, together with donations and other fundraising efforts, contribute to the upkeep of the station. Members who want to broadcast are allocated a trainer who will help them to know how to use the equipment well, and you can view our competency framework here.
